You guys, remember in JUNO when she got pregnant? It’s like THAT COULD NEVER BE ME… and it’s soooo depressing. I mean, no, it’s not depressing bc like, if I got accidentally pregnant right now my life would be totally different and I would…

I LOVE BABIES.
when roller derby ladies breastfeed. so much love for this image.
Darling Hudson Bay blanket-inspired garter stitched baby blanket. Shall I really learn to knit this time? (via Paige! thanks!)
Oh my!
I forgot to mention—
At work today, I, uh, re-met some extended family of mine: my dad’s cousin, her two daughters (both older than me), and her eldest daughter’s first child, a girl, named Bryn, all of 1 week old.
Oh lordy.
She was so beautiful.
Newborns are a delight.
This one was in constant, wriggling slow-motion. Her remarkable face, tiny and wrinkled, was awash in endless expressive pouts and puckers. She was so tiny that my arms, held to a normal cradling pose, were far too spread apart to support her, and her mother hoisted the little one to me cupping the child’s head and bum in either hand, easily. So light! So incredible!
You see,
after watching The Business of Being Born, I felt like, “Yes! Oh! Midwifery would be such an amazing and rewarding career!” (Then I remember that blood and incisions and… blood really, really make me feel like passing out. Now.)
BUT.
Could I just work in neonatal care and just cuddle very little babies? Doesn’t someone have this job?
I love babies. I love em.
If you live in Denmark it’s not unusual to have heard stories of pregnant women riding their bicycle to the hospital with contractions. Today, however, Copenahgenize is thrilled to provide some photographic documentation. Our friend Ole of “I read Copenhagenize and sold the family car” fame hooked us up with two friends of his, John and Lina. The time came for Lina to give birth - the contractions were getting closer together - and the couple, who don’t own a car (like 70.9% of Copenhageners) headed out to their bicycles.
A great, short writeup from a couple who rode their bikes to the hospital when contractions got strong. I want to live somewhere women do this!
Oh, wow! I am impressed. Women are amazing. And that new dad obviously knows his lady is amazing, too.
